East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development.
From June 11th to 13th, a thermal sliding test on the contact network was conducted on the Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River high-speed railway.
This is the key link before the joint commissioning and test of the railway’s electrification. Under the condition of live contact network, the hot sliding test train shall conduct tests at a speed not exceeding 80 kilometers per hour to confirm that the relevant equipment and facilities meet the conditions for joint debugging and testing.

“At present, the hot sliding process is very smooth. When the hot sliding test is completed, we will enter the joint debugging and testing phase in the next step, and the project is expected to be ready for operation in late September”, Yang Yang, Deputy Manager of Shanghai-Nanjing High-speed Railway Project Department of China Railway Construction Corporation Electrification Bureau, said.
With a length of 278.53 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River is an important part of the comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and forms a high-speed railway artery radiating westward in the Yangtze River Delta together with the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and the Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway.
The construction of the upper catwalk of the Longtan Yangtze River Bridge was completed on Monday, marking the full connection of the bridge"s aerial construction channel. As the most important aerial work channel and temporary work site for the superstructure construction of the suspension bridge, the catwalk is called the "suspended lifeline" of the Suspension bridge because the lowest point is about 90 meters from the river surface.
The catwalk adopts a three span continuous structure, with one catwalk located below the main cable on both sides. The 4-meter-wide and 2818-meter-long single side catwalk is composed of 10 high-strength galvanized steel wire ropes with a thickness of 54 millimeters.
“We need to operate on this catwalk to complete the installation of the main cable, cable clamp, sling, and steel beam. We are preparing to install the first main cable around July 12th”, Wang Kun, Deputy Production Manager of Longtan Yangtze River Bridge Project of CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., said.
“The 4.92-kilometer-long Longtan Yangtze River Bridge is an important component of the ring road network in the Nanjing metropolitan area, which is of great significance for cross-Yangtze integration development, building the Yangtze River urban clusters, and promoting the integrated development of Nanjing, Zhenjiang, and Yangzhou”, Tang Fenghua, Deputy Field Commander of Longtan Yangtze River Bridge Construction Headquarters, said.
The rapid renovation project of Jiangyin Changshan Avenue has completed the top sealing construction of the Changshanhu Tunnel. Changshan Avenue is a component of the Jiangyin Expressway that connects the urban area of Wuxi, and is also an important road for the comprehensive transportation hub of the Jiangyin high-speed railway station.
Open excavation and buried construction is adopted in the construction of the 2.4-kilometer-long Anshan Lake Tunnel which has a foundation pit width of 29.74 meters, a widened section width of 50 meters, and a maximum excavation depth of 18.1 meters. It repeatedly crosses high-speed railways, elevated roads, ground roads, and rivers, making it the most difficult road construction of its kind in China.
“The Yanshan Lake Tunnel, which is relatively rare among similar urban tunnels in China in terms of construction scale and difficulty, has accumulated valuable experience for the construction of similar tunnels in the future, and the capping of the main structure of the tunnel has laid a solid foundation for its opening by the end of the year”, Zhang Yanhai, Chief Engineer of Jiangyin Changshan Avenue Changshanhu Tunnel Project of China Railway 16th Bureau, said.
