East China’s Jiangsu province set a historical record for railway construction investment from January to May with total investment of 29.4 billion yuan, reaching the highest level in history during the same period.

On June 30th, Nanjing kicked off the construction of the Shangyuanmen Yangtze River Tunnel. The tunnel with a total investment of 29.2 billion yuan has a total length of about 20 kilometers and is a single hole, double track high-speed railway tunnel, making it the world"s record for ultra high water pressure and ultra long distance rock excavation of large diameter high-speed railway underwater shield tunnels.

This railway tunnel will improve the layout of Nanjing"s railway network and promote coordinated regional socio-economic development.

“It will connect Nanjing railway station with Nanjing North Railway Station, and also connect Nanjing Huai"an Railway with Shanghai–Nanjing intercity railway, North Riverside High speed Railway with Shanghai Nanjing Intercity Railway, as well as Nanjing Huai"an, Nanjing Chuzhou and Nanjing Xuancheng Railway in the future”, Shi Lianghong, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Railway Group Co., Ltd., said.

On June 29, the construction team completed the pouring of the last pre-cast roof of Suzhou Inter-city Railway South Station. The 360000-square-meter Suzhou South Station is designed with four floors and the lowest level structure capped this time.

Suzhou South Railway Station will become the junction station of Shanghai Suzhou Huzhou Railway, Nantong Suzhou Jiaxing Ningbo Railway, the watertown tourism inter-city rail and Suzhou Metro Line 10.

“The pouring of the last pre-cast roof of Suzhou Inter-city Railway South Station, which is complted 18 days ahead of schedule, has provided guarantee for the construction of large-span continuous beams and timely track laying of the Shanghai–Suzhou–Huzhou high-speed railway”,Gu Xiaohui, Manager of Project Management Department of Suzhou Communications Investment Group Inter-city rail Co., Ltd., said.

Construction workers have recently completed the tied arch structure of the Yangkou Lusi Railway.

The Yangkou Lvsi Railway will become an important component of the new port collection and distribution system in Tongzhou Bay by connecting Yangkou, Tongzhou Bay, Dongzao, and Lvsi to form a river-sea intermodal transportation system of "railway+inland river+port".

“The 128 meter long tied arch crossing Highway 328 is the controlling project of Yangkou-Lvsi Railway, and also the key and difficult project of the whole line. Its completion will lay a solid foundation for the opening of the entire Yangkou Lvsi Railway”,Sun Delong, Secretary of the Yanglu Railway Section 2 Project Department of China Railway 14th Bureau, said.

Jiangsu is making every effort to advance the preparations for the Weifang Suqian Railway, Yancheng Taizhou Wuxi Changzhou Yixing Railway, Changzhou Taixing Railway, and Hefei Suqian Railway. In the meantime, Jiangsu is accelerating the construction of the North Yangtze River Railway, the Nantong Suzhou Jiaxing Ningbo Railway, and the Nanjing Huai"an High Speed Railway. The Shanghai Nanjing Yangtze River High Speed Railway is scheduled for opening in late September.

From January to May, Jiangsu recorded 29.422 billion yuan in railway construction investment, a year-on-year increase of 159%, accounting for 54% of the annual investment plan, setting a new record for completed investment in the first five months in recent years.
