East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.

The last section of the roof slab of the Wuxi section of the Zhushanhu Tunnel in the Yixing-Mashan Expressway has been poured, marking the full completion of the main structure construction of the Wuxi section.

The Zhushan Lake Tunnel is currently the longest mainline highway under construction in China. The builders practiced the concept of green development, effectively shortened the length of the steel cofferdam through the warehouse separation flow process, and minimized the impact on the Taihu Lake area.

“In the next step, we will move on to the construction of auxiliary structures. We will strictly control quality and safety, and create a watertight underwater tunnel demonstration project”, Song Yuxin, Deputy Secretary of the Yixing-Mashan Project of China Communications Tunnel Bureau, said.

The project will further strengthen the rapid connection between Yixing and the urban area of Wuxi, promote the economic development and deep development of tourism resources along the line, and promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Jiangsu is making every effort to promote the construction of key transportation projects and regional high-quality development through high-quality construction of major projects.

As a key project in response to the coastal development strategy, the Dafeng Port branch line project is undergoing the pile foundation construction of Lot 4.

The 50.6-km-long Dafeng Port branch line project will become an important sea passage for cargo transportation in the central region and inland cities by directly connecting Xinyi–Changxing railway, Longhai railway and Nanjing–Qidong railway.

“We plan to complete the earthwork filling of the roadbed, the main construction of the building, and the box girder of the bridge and culvert by the end of this year”, Wang Baotong, Executive Deputy Manager of Jiangsu Leiwei Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., said.

Statistics show that from January to May, Jiangsu recorded a total investment of 103.84 billion yuan in the construction of water, rail, and air infrastructure, exceeding the progress by 10.2 percentage points.

Six of the nine transportation infrastructure projects included in the provincial major project list have started construction, ensuring the goal of achieving a 75% operating rate in the first half of the year.
