East China"s Jiangsu province has played its role in China"s manufacturing of the C919 jetliner as the country"s first self-developed narrow-body jet successfully completed its debut commercial flight on Sunday. Let"s take a close look.

The C919 is China"s first single-aisle large mainline passenger aircraft developed entirely in accordance with international advanced airworthiness standards. It is also a culmination of the country"s scientific and technological capabilities, industrial level, and comprehensive strength, making it part of the list of major aircraft suppliers and a concentrated manifestation of enterprise manufacturing strength.

Nantong-based Tong Guang Group provides cables for C919. Compared to ordinary cables, this type of cable has a temperature resistance rating of up to 200 ℃.

In the process of participating in the research and development of supporting products for C919 large aircraft, the enterprise continuously improved its technical level and applied for 14 patents, including 6 invention patents.

"We have obtained certification for process control from COMAC and firmly believe that in the near future, Tong Guang"s aviation wires will contribute more to the localization of C919 aircraft," said Zhang Zhong, the chairman of Tong Guang Group.

Suzhou Sicui Institute of Acousto-Optic Micro-Nano Technology of Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute has focused on emerging industries such as laser precision manufacturing and acoustic intelligent sensing.

As a partner of COMAC, Suzhou Sicui Institute of Acousto-Optic Micro-Nano Technology has been focusing on the research and development of laser processing technology for cooling gas film holes in the core component of the C919 aircraft engine, which is known as the "flame tube".

"The flame tube is a very important part of the engine that is resistant to high temperature. We use laser precision machining technology to mainly solve the coating peeling of the gas film hole, as well as the uncontrollable hole type inside the gas film hole so that it can pass 2200 thermal shock cycles without coating peeling, ensuring that it reaches the international advanced level," said Chen Long, an engineer at Suzhou Sicui Institute of Acousto-Optic Micro-Nano Technology.

Double beam dual side synchronous welding technology, the project achievement spearheaded by Nanjing Institute of Advanced Laser Technology, is applied to the wall panel structure of the C919 large passenger aircraft fuselage.

The AVIC Jincheng Nanjing Engineering Institute of Aircraft System is responsible for the development of over 80 products, including fuel, hydraulic, and air management systems, for the C919 aircraft.

Jiangsu Meilong Aviation Parts Co., Ltd. undertook the work package for the interior and sub-panels of the C919 main cargo hold.

Nantong Tiemao Glass has become the only supplier of C919 passenger chord windows.

China"s first self-developed narrow-body jet, the C919, successfully completed its debut commercial flight on Sunday, ushering in a new era of aviation that utilizes domestically manufactured aircraft, industry experts said.

Some 130 passengers traveled on China Eastern Airlines flight MU 9191, which departed Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 10:32 am. The plane landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 12:31 pm and was welcomed with a traditional water salute.

The C919 flight on Sunday had a configuration of 164 seats, including eight in business class and 156 in economy class.

The first C919 aircraft was delivered to China Eastern Airlines in Shanghai on Dec 9, 2022, by its manufacturer. The C919 made its first experimental flight in 2017.

Before the jet"s debut commercial flight, China Eastern completed all test flights, passenger operations" verifications, and other preparatory work required before commencing commercial operations, the airline said.
