Jiangsu will continue to weave a tighter net of public health protection, promote the expansion of high-quality medical resources and regional balanced layout, take a series of latest measures, promote the construction of a healthy Jiangsu, and enhance the sense of well-being of the people, according to the provincial medical and health work conference held on Wednesday.

Jiangsu will continue to improve its public health service capacity and increase the per capita subsidy for basic public health services to over 98 yuan so as to make instant response to sudden public health events, and major disease prevention and control.

Jiangsu will also strengthen monitoring and prevention of influenza virus mutations, closely monitor new outbreaks such as monkeypox, human avian influenza, and malaria, improve the chronic disease monitoring system, strengthen comprehensive prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as tumors, and promote appropriate screening and intervention techniques for high-risk groups of chronic diseases.

In 2023, Jiangsu will promote HPV vaccination for school-age girls, comprehensively carry out screening and intervention services for depression and autism in children aged 0-6 during pregnancy and childbirth, establish 110 inclusive childcare institutions, 24 elderly hospitals at or above the second level, 20 geriatric medical departments at or above the second level comprehensive hospitals, and optimize and improve 30 nursing homes.

Jiangsu will continue to strengthen the construction of grassroots health teams by enrolling around 1200 medical college students who will work in rural areas upon graduation.

Jiangsu will also support universities to offer majors in pediatrics, psychiatry, preventive medicine, and geriatrics, and step up efforts to cultivate scarce talents in anesthesia, general practice, rehabilitation, elderly care, and childcare.
