East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts in recent years to promote the protection and utilization of cultural and natural heritages. Let’s take a close look.

In Xixi Ancient Town of Dongtai city, the birthplace of the legend of Dong Yong, a national intangible cultural heritage project, the 2023 "China"s Cultural Heritage Day" in Jiangsu Province and the "Water Charm Jiangsu Intangible Cultural Heritage Shopping Festival" kicked off on Sunday.

The large-scale fantasy reality show "Tian Xian Yuan", as well as nearly 100 national intangible cultural heritage projects from Jiangsu, including North Jiangsu Drum from Suqian and Donghai Crystal from Lianyungang, attracted many visitors.

During this year"s "China"s Cultural Heritage Day", Jiangsu will hold 1041 publicity and exhibition activities by focusing on intangible cultural heritage workshops and time-honored brands and inviting a total of 3892 intangible cultural heritage works from 85 representative intangible cultural heritage projects to participate in the exhibition.

In recent years, Jiangsu has attached great importance to the protection of cultural and natural heritage by introducing a series of policy measures and innovative measures to "safeguard" cultural heritages.

Jiangsu has creatively launched the "Infinite Space Intangible Cultural Heritage Entering Scenic Spots" by breaking through time and space limitations, integrating various forms of intangible cultural heritage display and performance into all elements of scenic tourism, so as to allow tourists to experience and share the charm of intangible cultural heritage throughout the scenic areas.

At the same time, Jiangsu has conformed to the new trend of exhibition and display methods in the digital era by utilizing technology and other means to integrate ancient civilization and traditional culture with creativity and integrate with tourism in the new era so as to have continuously met the people"s longing for a better life.

By the end of 2022, Jiangsu has recorded more than 20000 immovable cultural relics, more than 2.8 million movable cultural relics, 3 world cultural heritage sites, 251 major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, and more than 29000 various intangible cultural heritage resources projects, including 11 items listed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, 162 national intangible cultural heritage projects, and 178 national intangible cultural heritage inheritors.
