Ganyu District of Lianyungang City has launched an "ocean broadband" meteorological warning service for 210 fishing boats to ensure that the fishermen will keep informed of the weather changes.

This white device, with a diameter of about 60 centimeters and a hemispherical shape, is a broadband signal receiver for ocean satellites. The cable below is connected to the cockpit where there is a Wi Fi signal processor. Many fishing boats have been equipped with this signal receiver.

In the past, weather change messages could only be transmitted as far as the sea area about 15 kilometers away off the coastline. A single text service message could not meet the needs of fishing vessels for offshore operations and safety avoidance services.

Ganyu District currently has 1374 registered fishing vessels, accounting for one-third of the provincial total. Fishery production safety guarantee can ensure that fishermen can receive timely and accurate warnings of marine meteorological disasters when working at sea.
