Zhang Kanjian and Ge Jian, two teachers from Nanjing-based Southeast University, returned to China"s polar region in Shanghai after participating in China"s 39th Antarctic scientific exploration mission.

The Antarctic expedition team departed on October 31, 2022 and returned to Shanghai on April 3, 2023.

The two scientific research team members from Southeast University completed four tasks, including the installation and commissioning of "Dongda Polar Energy 2.0" - "Kunlun Station Intelligent Power System" in Kunlun Station, the installation and commissioning of "Antarctic Unmanned Intelligent Observation Station" in the inland departure base of Zhongshan Station, the maintenance of "Dongda Polar Energy" - remote control unattended energy supply module installed in Mount Taishan Station, and the installation of cooperation with the inland automatic weather station.

"In unmanned places, scientific research equipment requires energy to ensure continuous operation for about a year. We need to ensure power supply for the equipment. Overall, time is quite tight. Our actual construction time is only about eighteen days, and we basically have to work from morning to evening every day," said Zhang Kanjian, Professor at the School of Automation, Southeast University, Member of the 39th Antarctic Expedition in China.

Up to now, Southeast University has sent 9 experts to Kunlun Station, Mount Taishan Station and Zhongshan Station in Antarctica to complete relevant scientific research tasks.
