The first "Purple Gold Cup" National Small Theater Drama Excellent Drama Exhibition Show opened in Nanjing on Sunday. The event was organized by the China Drama Association, the Publicity Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

23 excellent plays from art troupes and performance institutions across the country will be performed, showcasing the latest development achievements of Chinese small theater dramas, and building a platform for exchange, mutual learning, and integrated development of small theater dramas.

On Sunday night, the drama "No. 11 Minsheng Lane - Part 2" was staged as the opening drama at the Nanjing Star Sky Theater.

During the event, a series of activities will also be held online and offline, including "post performance talks", "expert reviews", and the National Small Theater Drama Status and Development Summit Forum.

In recent years, Jiangsu has taken the construction of public-good small theatres as an important means to improve the quality of people"s lives and empower high-quality development of culture so as to have promoted the standardized construction and high-quality development of small theatres across Jiangsu.

At present, Jiangsu has built 1156 small theaters of various types, with a total seating capacity of about 250 thousand, continuously meeting the growing needs of the people for a better life.
