HANOI, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has estimated its gross domestic product (GDP) growth to be 6.5 percent at best this year, local media reported on Tuesday.
The country"s Ministry of Planning and Investment on the same day announced two scenarios for Vietnam"s GDP growth for 2023, local newspaper Tien Phong reported.
Accordingly, the country would post GDP growth of 6 percent or 6.5 percent for 2023. With the 6.5 percent scenario, the GDP growth in the third and fourth quarters must be 7.4 percent and 10.3 percent respectively, according to the ministry.
To achieve the goal, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung urged ministries, agencies, and localities to make more efforts.
There should be a strong push for administrative procedure reform and improvement of the business investment environment, the newspaper cited the minister as saying.
The ministry also called on ministries, sectors, and local authorities to actively remove difficulties, and promote growth drivers for domestic consumption, investment, and exports.
Vietnam recorded a modest year-on-year GDP growth of 3.72 percent in the first half of this year, the second lowest for the same period in 2011-2023.
Vietnam"s top legislature has set the GDP growth target at 6.5 percent this year.
