Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Xu Kunlin met Thursday afternoon in Nanjing with a visiting delegation headed by Carrie Lam, former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Henry Tang Ying-yen, the founding president of the Hong Kong Jiangsu Federation of Societies.
On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Xin Changxing and Xu Kunlin welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed gratitude to the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Liaison Office of the Central People"s Government and the Hong Kong Jiangsu Federation of Societies for their care and support for the development of Jiangsu over the years.
Xin Changxing said that the reform and development of Jiangsu has received strong support from Hong Kong compatriots, especially from the business community in Hong Kong and Jiangsu"s modernization drive will provide more development opportunities for everyone.
Noting that the Hong Kong Jiangsu Federation of Societies is an important link for exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong, the CPC provincial chief hoped that the Jiangsu Federation of Societies in Hong Kong would spare no effort to promote the "one country, two systems" policy and exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong, play a greater role in maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, jointly deepen the integrated development of Jiangsu and Hong Kong, and promote the new practice of Chinese path to modernization in Jiangsu.
Carrie Lam said that the Hong Kong Jiangsu Federation of Societies will pool patriotic and loving forces in Hong Kong, continue to leverage the advantages of the two regions, promote exchanges and cooperation between the two regions to achieve more fruitful results, and jointly create a better future.
Tang Ying-yen expressed that we are proud of the new achievements made in the development of our hometown, adding that the Hong Kong Jiangsu Federation of Societies will continue to unite friends from all walks of life and Hong Kong residents, making new contributions to maintaining Hong Kong"s long-term prosperity and stability, and make new contributions to promoting the integration and development of Jiangsu and Hong Kong.
