Three enterprises from east China"s Jiangsu province ranked among the top 100 of the 2023 Global Unicorn List released recently by the Hurun Research Institute. Suzhou and Nanjing have become the top ten cities in China in terms of the number of unicorn enterprises.

Unicorn companies refer to companies that are not listed on the securities market but have been established for no more than 10 years and have a valuation of over $1 billion.

1361 unicorn companies worldwide are located in 48 countries and 271 cities. There are 316 unicorn companies listed in China. ByteDance has become the world"s most valuable unicorn enterprise for the second consecutive year.

Among the top 100 global unicorns, three are companies from Jiangsu, including Envision Energy in Wuxi which ranked 37th with a value of 83 billion yuan, Beehive Energy in Changzhou which ranked 71st with a value of 60 billion yuan, and JD Industrial Development in Suqian which ranked 92nd with a value of 53 billion yuan.

Suzhou and Nanjing, with a total of 10 and 8 enterprises respectively, were selected as the top ten cities in China with the largest number of unicorn companies.

The top ten cities with the largest number of unicorn companies in China include Beijing with 79, Shanghai with 66, Shenzhen with 33, Guangzhou with 22, Hangzhou with 22, Chengdu with 10, Suzhou with 10, Nanjing with 8, Wuhan with 7, and Qingdao with 5.

The list shows that the industry with the fastest growth in the number of unicorn enterprises is mainly concentrated in fields such as financial technology, enterprise services, blockchain, logistics, network security, and artificial intelligence.

Jiangsu is targeting relevant fields to open up new tracks, injecting strong momentum into achieving overall improvement in economic operation and promoting high-quality development.
