East China"s Jiangsu province reported a good trend of stable and positive economic operation and accelerated recovery in the first quarter of this year, according to statistics released Tuesday by the provincial bureau of statistics.
According to the unified accounting results, in the first quarter, Jiangsu reported a regional GDP of 2940.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%, 63.44 billion yuan in the added value of the primary industry, a year-on-year increase of 3.0%, 1257.03 billion yuan in the added value of the secondary industry, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, and 1619.71 billion yuan in the added value of the tertiary industry, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%.
Jiangsu has reported a stable and positive recovery in the industrial economy since the beginning of this year, due to the steady recovery and improvement of market demand and the implementation of 42 proactive policy measures.
In the first quarter, industries above designated size in the province achieved a year-on-year increase of 5.5% in added value. Nine of the top ten industries achieved year-on-year growth in added value.
The electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, automobile manufacturing industry, and specialized equipment manufacturing industry respectively reported an increase of 16.1%, 9.2%, and 8% in added value. New energy vehicle manufacturing reported 59.2% of added value, the highest among various industries.
In the first quarter, Jiangsu reported a total retail sales of 1170.68 billion yuan in consumer goods, an increase of 7.8% year-on-year. Jiangsu also reported a year-on-year increase of 5% in the added value of the service industry, 12.3% in the accommodation and catering industry, and 9.9% in the financial industry.
Jiangsu also reported a manufacturing investment growth of 9.1% in manufacturing, 4.1 percentage points higher than the total investment. The province also reported 8.5% year-on-year growth in the investment in high-tech industries, 3.5 percentage points higher than the total investment.
