The Jiangsu Provincial Association for International Cultural Exchange held its fifth general meeting in Nanjing on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed the work of the fourth council of the association, reviewing and approving the newly revised "Charter of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for International Cultural Exchange", electing the new council of the association, and made arrangement for the next stage of work. Zhang Aijun, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, was elected as the President.

Zhang Aijun emphasized that the association must deeply study and implement the General Secretary"s important speech and instructions on deepening cultural exchange, mutual learning and strengthening international communication capacity construction so as to tap into unique regional cultural resources, carry out cultural exchange activities, promote the cultural spirit that spans time and space, and spread cultural achievements with eternal charm and contemporary value, continuously enhance the influence of Chinese civilization and Jiangsu culture.

Zhang Aijun emphasized that the new council must focus on improving its working mechanism, relying on key projects of the province"s international promotion of the Chinese culture and international cultural exchange bases, actively innovate ideas and measures, improve methods and continuously improve its own construction.

He requested the council to continuously strengthen its service function, provide better resources and wider channels for the members of the association to play their roles, fully stimulate the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of all members, and strive to build the association into a link for Jiangsu to promote international folk cultural exchange, a bridge for deepening communication and cooperation between Jiangsu and the world, and a warm home for all members.
