On the occasion of World Reading Day, various regions across Jiangsu province organized colorful reading activities to promote reading and share the fragrance of books. In 1995, UNESCO adopted a resolution to designate April 23 as "World Reading Day", which is not only a festival for books, but also for readers.

The first Jiangsu University Students" Reading Culture Festival and Book Review Competition, launched in Nanjing on Saturday, will see a series of activities in the next six months, including "Weekly Classic Reading Guide", book review competition, celebrity reading sharing meeting, and "Cloud Recitation" for millions of students, bringing a reading feast for college students in the province.

Nanjing University of Technology and some other provincial universities hold classic reading and reading activities to promote young students to love reading, read good books, and be good at reading.

On Saturday morning, the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese Invaders held a recitation activity titled "I am a reader of Zijin Grass".

Representatives of primary and secondary school students and volunteers of Zijincao used their voices to protect historical memories and expressed their wishes for peace through recitation.

Various forms of reading promotion activities have been launched throughout the province. Taizhou has launched the "Memory Taizhou Reading" book corner, allowing citizens to understand the history and culture of their hometown in the community and at their doorstep.

Huai"an and Suqian organized activities such as classic works on campus and family parent-child reading, allowing children to immerse themselves in classics and develop good reading habits from an early age.

“In the future, we will carry out regular activities for classic works to enter the campus, so that more children can feel the charm of reading,”said Yang Yunfeng, a young volunteer from Huai"an"s “Journey to the West Classroom”.

“We will create a scholarly family atmosphere, and through parent-child reading, make every day a reading day for children,”said Sun Meiling, Propaganda and United Front Work Officer of the Party Working Committee of Qingyang Sub-district, Sihong County.
