The 2023 China Internet Media Forum opened in Nanjing on Saturday. Let’s take a close look.

Among the top leaders attending the opening ceremony and delivering speeches were Zhuang Rongwen, Deputy Minister of the Central Publicity Department, Director of the Cyberspace Administration of the CPC Central Committee, and Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and Yu Shaoliang, Chief Editor of the People"s Daily. Niu Yibing, Deputy Director of the Central Cyberspace Administration and Deputy Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, presided over the opening ceremony.

Zhuang Rongwen pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the General Secretary has had a keen insight into the overall trend of internet development and the laws of omnimedia development by making important instructions and putting forward clear requirements for media integration development, which has indicated the direction for us to move forward and providing fundamental guidance for us to do our work well.

He said efforts should be made to enhance political stance, gain insight into the decisive significance that the Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.

We must persistently give full play to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to unite and gather billions of netizens, make learning and implementing the education campaign on study and implementation of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era a top priority in internet-based publicity, and continuously consolidate the common ideological foundation for the unity and struggle of billions of netizens.

Xin Changxing, on behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Government, congratulated the opening of the forum, welcomed the arrival of guests and friends from the media, and expressed his gratitude for everyone"s long-term concern and support for the development of Jiangsu.

He said that news and public opinion work is a major event in governing the country and stabilizing the country, adding that this year coincides with the tenth anniversary of the General Secretary"s proposal for media integration and development.

He said we have gained a deeper understanding that whether it is the historic achievements achieved in the construction of a new Jiangsu or the historic changes achieved in the integration of media development, the fundamental lies in the scientific guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

When delivering his speech, Yu Shaoliang stated that it is necessary to deeply study and implement the General Secretary"s important statement on promoting the integration and development of media, strengthen the construction of the entire media communication system, and shape a new pattern of mainstream public opinion.

Starting a new era and embarking on a new journey, the People"s Daily will fully implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, accelerate the deep integration and development of media, and make new contributions to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized country and the realization of the second centenary goal.

The China Internet Media Forum is the highest-level, authoritative, and influential annual event in China"s Internet media industry. This year’s forum is hosted by the Central Cyberspace Office, People"s Daily, and the Cyberspace Commission of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
