The "May Day" travel booking on LY.com shows a significant increase in both domestic and outbound travel. Domestic travel orders have equaled the same period in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of over 7 times. Outbound travel bookings in mainland China have increased by over 18 times.
According to LY.com, domestic scenic spots have recorded a nearly 10-fold increase in ticket bookings compared with the same period last year, with Wuxi, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing and other places being the most popular destinations.
Ctrip recorded a year-on-year increase of over 7 times in the number of orders for domestic travel, and the per capita consumption of domestic tourism was almost the same as the same period last year.
More than 60% of the orders registered for long-distance travel during the Labor Day holiday, indicating that more tourists hope to travel further during the 5-day holiday.
During the May Day holiday, some of the sea view hotels near the Erhai Lake in Dali of Yunnan province have been fully booked, and major popular tourist attractions in Jiangsu are also coping with rising orders. Hotels and homestays around the Nanjing Confucius Temple scenic area have been fully booked.
"The pre orders for the May Day holiday have already surpassed the same period in 2019, with Chengdu, Changsha, Qingdao, Suzhou, Fuzhou, Zhuhai being popular destinations, which is expected to exceed the same period in 2019 by more than 30%. During the May Day holiday, the number of tourist orders for visit to Dali increased by 190% compared to 2019, and the number of orders to visit Weihai increased by over 300%," said Yang Zhanwang, Regional Director of Ctrip Public Affairs.
Outbound tourism will also reach its peak during the May Day holiday. According to Ctrip data, the overall booking volume of outbound travel has increased by over 18 times year-on-year, the search volume of outbound tickets has increased by over 9 times year-on-year, and the average price of outbound one-way tickets has decreased by 58% year-on-year.
Singapore+Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau Link Tour, Maldives, New Zealand, Egypt Deep Tour are popular destinations for outbound group tours during May Day holiday.
"During the May Day holiday, tourists from Jiangsu enjoy visiting Thailand, Hong Kong of China, Japan, Macau, and Singapore. Our platform has launched group tour products for over 20 countries, including Greece, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Vietnam, providing tourists with more diverse choices," said Yang Guangwang, Regional Director of Ctrip Public Affairs.
