East China"s Jiangsu province recorded an investment of 4.532 billion yuan in water conservancy construction in the first quarter of this year, playing a fundamental supporting role in economic development.
The second phase of the Huaihe River estuary waterway project is the largest water conservancy project with the largest investment and engineering volume in Jiangsu, and it is also one of the 55 key water conservancy projects funded by the central government this year.
This project can ensure that over 20 million people and over 30 million acres of arable land will be more reliably protected in terms of flood control safety.
In the first quarter,1.859 billion yuan was invested in the second phase of the Huaihe River estuary project with 4.723 million cubic meters of earthwork excavated.
The Zhangjiahe Sluice Station, one of the pilot projects located in Binhai County, has completed the pouring of the pump layer, motor layer, and self-draining culvert of the station body. The main project of the gate station has been basically completed.
"We are currently carrying out the construction of auxiliary facilities, earthwork backfilling, and main factory building in the inner and outer rivers. The processing and manufacturing of electromechanical and electrical equipment have met the conditions for factory acceptance. The project plan is to complete all underwater construction by the end of April and have emergency drainage conditions by the end of May," said Yang Jun, Project Manager of Zhangjiahe Sluice Station Project in Binhai County.
The recent construction project in the flood detention area around Hongze Lake is one of the 172 major water conservation and water supply projects determined by the State Council. The project will restore 8.55 square kilometers of water surface in Hongze Lake, increasing its storage capacity by 11.6 million cubic meters, which is of great significance for regional economic development, ecological construction, and safety assurance.
"We will invest approximately 130 million yuan this year, and by the beginning of spring 2024, we are expected to have completed the main project and carried out the acceptance of various projects by May next year," said Zhou Jianhua, Director of the Water Conservancy Key Engineering Construction Department in Huaiyin District, Huai"an City.
This year, Jiangsu will invest 18 billion yuan in key water conservancy projects and 8 billion yuan in rural water conservancy, focus on the construction of national water network backbone projects such as the second phase of the Huai River estuary and the renovation of the Jiangsu section of the Wusong River, coordinate river clean-up projects, and accelerate the construction of modern water networks in Jiangsu.
As of the end of March, Jiangsu has completed an investment of 4.532 billion yuan in water conservancy, an increase of 42% compared to the same period last year.
