The Ganyu Fishing Port Economic Zone has been selected as one of the 10 pilot projects of the 2023 national level coastal fishing port economic zone recently announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, becoming the second project in Jiangsu Province to be approved as a national level fishing port economic zone pilot after the Sheyang Fishing Port Economic Zone.

Ganyu has a 62.5-kilometer-long coastline and an annual fishing output value of 13.17 billion yuan. In recent years, Ganyu has continuously increased the construction of fishery infrastructure by building two national level central fishing ports at Qingkou and Haitou. With the approval of being selected as a national level fishing port economic zone, Ganyu District will rely on the existing advantages of the marine fishing industry, focus on cultivating industries such as facility aquaculture and cold chain logistics, and create a model area for integrated development of fisheries.
