Fifty enterprises in east China’s Jiangsu Province have been listed in the 2022 green manufacturing list released recently by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, ranking first in the country in terms of the number of enterprises. As a major manufacturing powerhouse, Jiangsu is further building a green manufacturing system with the goal of "green factories, green parks, green supply chains, and green products", helping the province to achieve the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals in the industrial field as soon as possible.

The application and certification of a national green factory must comply with strict standards and specifications, requiring the factory to have characteristics such as intensive land use, harmless raw materials, clean production, waste recycling, and low energy carbonization.

Seven enterprises in Wuxi have been rated as national green factories, ranking among the top in the province, which has resulted from the city’s comprehensive evaluation system for resource utilization performance of industrial enterprises established in recent years by closely adhering to indicators such as per mu tax, per mu sales, and per unit energy consumption tax, so as to have forced enterprises to achieve green transformation through differentiated allocation of resource elements.

The hydrogen fuel cell system developed by Panasonic Energy Wuxi Co., Ltd. can not only supply power for factory production, but also collect and convert the generated heat energy through energy storage equipment. At the same time, the factory has also been equipped with a solar power generation system.

With the coordination of the control system, hydrogen energy, thermal energy, and solar energy are supplied according to demand, enabling the entire factory to achieve zero carbon emissions from energy use.

Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has taken multiple measures at the policy level to accelerate the promotion of green manufacturing. On the one hand, it has continued to implement the carbon peak program in the energy-intensive steel, chemical, and building materials industries, promoting the application of hundreds of advanced energy-saving technologies, including hydrogen batteries.

On the other hand, Jiangsu has focused on building a number of key industry leading enterprises and industrial park carbon neutralization and carbon peak demonstration projects by preparing green and low-carbon construction standards, and implementing energy-saving technological transformation.

Sheyang Port Economic Development Zone has settled 27 leading enterprises in the new energy industry chain, with an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan. Since the beginning of this year, the park has provided enterprises with access to an energy management platform for real-time monitoring of energy consumption and emissions, while providing enterprises with direct supply of "green power" such as solar energy and wind energy.

"While producing "green electricity", we are also importing "green electricity" into the park, enabling 30% of enterprises in the park to use "green electricity" towards the end of this year. At the end of the 14th Five Year Plan, all enterprises will use "green electricity" to achieve the goal of a truly green and low-carbon industrial park," saidZhang Zhongzhi, Director of Investment Promotion Branch of New Energy and Equipment Industrial Park in Sheyang Port Economic Development Zone.

The list of green manufacturing released by the state also includes three green parks, nine green supply chains, and 69 green products in Jiangsu, ranking the province among the top in the country, highlighting the latest achievements of Jiangsu in deeply implementing the "14th Five Year Plan" industrial green development plan and promoting the greening of the entire manufacturing system.

Up to now, Jiangsu has established 249 national level green factories, 20 green parks, 32 green industry chain management enterprises, and 92 enterprises are listed among the national industrial product green design demonstration enterprises. Green development is becoming a distinctive feature of high-quality manufacturing development in Jiangsu.
