East China’s Jiangsu province marked 52nd World Environment Day and 9th China Environment Day by carrying out various forms of promotional activities across the province around the theme of "building a modern society with harmonious coexistence between human and nature".

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Taizhou held on-site educational activities at the "Ecological Civilization Education Base" on the northern bank of the Yangtze River.

The participants were given the opportunity to learn about the collection, analysis, and testing of water samples by boarding a yacht to cruise the Yangtze River and experiencing the unbelievable ecological transformation of a shipyard into a forest and a fish pond into a wetland.

In recent years, Taizhou has taken the lead in the country in carrying out the "Yangtze River Physical Examination" by establishing a big data platform, and carrying out special actions, so that the Yangtze River ecosystem has been effectively managed and protected and the water quality of the local section of the Yangtze River has reached Excellent III standard in 2022.

From the Yangtze River to the Grand Canal, from communities to campuses, various forms of activities were carried out in various parts of Jiangsu to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection.

Suzhou launched the construction of the Taihu Lake Ecological Island Monitoring and Intelligent Control Platform, which will utilize technologies such as satellite remote sensing, drones, and artificial intelligence to achieve the integration of ecological environment data and improve the modernization level of Taihu Lake ecological environment governance. Suzhou also released fish fry to further assist in the restoration of the fish population in Taihu Lake.

Volunteers from Changzhou and Huai"an visited communities and villages to popularize garbage classification knowledge among residents and call on them to develop habits of cherishing resources and saving energy.

Xuzhou and Lianyungang organized residents to visit sewage treatment plants, experience the process of sewage treatment, and convey the water-saving environmental protection concept.

Primary and secondary schools and kindergartens across the province were also mobilized to enhance students" environmental awareness through activities such as environmental fashion shows, themed class meetings, and on-site scientific examinations.
