East China’s Jiangsu province recorded a year-on-year increase of 24.4% in retail sales in April, latest statistics show.
Statistics show that in April, Jiangsu recorded a retail sales volume of 347.59 billion yuan in consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 24.4%, 10.6 percentage points higher than March and 41.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
Statistics have found that the demand for high-quality consumption among residents is gradually increasing, which is mainly related to factors such as continuous optimization and improvement of market supply, and the continuous promotion of green environmental protection concepts.
In April, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year growth of 68.1% in retail sales of gold, silver and jewelry, 14.6% in cosmetics, 75.7% in sports and entertainment products, and 28.8% in communication equipment.
Jiangsu has witnessed the accelerated recovery of retail sales in physical stores. In April, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year increase of 32.7% in the retail sales of physical stores.
The retail sales of convenience stores increased by 23.2%, while department stores and shopping centers reported retail sales growth of 40.6% and 25.2%, respectively.
