Xin Changxing, Secretrary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Thursday in Changzhou with Geoff Martha, Global Chairman and CEO of Medtronic.
On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, Xin Changxing welcomed Geoff Martha to Jiangsu for the promotion of cooperation, and congratulated Medtronic on laying the foundation for its new project in Changzhou.
He said that as China"s major economic province and the frontier of opening up, Jiangsu is unswervingly expanding its opening up to the outside world, striving to create a market-oriented, legalized and internationalized first-class business environment, and sharing new opportunities for Chinese path to modernization with various foreign funded enterprises, in accordance with General Secretary Xi Jinping"s major requirements of "continuing to lead the way in high-quality development".
Noting that high-end medical devices are related to the health and well-being of the people, and are a strategic emerging industry vigorously cultivated in Jiangsu, the Provincial Party Secretary spoke favorably of the efforts made by Medtronic in Jiangsu for over 10 years with good development momentum and fruitful cooperation results as a leading global medical technology enterprise.
He said the smooth laying of the foundation for Medtronic"s new project in Changzhou fully reflects Medtronic"s strategic vision, as well as our firm confidence, utmost sincerity, and broad prospects in continuously deepening cooperation.
He hoped that both sides can take the launch of the new project as a new starting point, aim at the forefront of industry and technology, deepen all-round cooperation, focus on building a global medical innovation cooperation and exchange platform, and jointly create a better future.
Geoff Martha thanked Jiangsu for its strong support for the development of Medtronic. He expressed that on this trip, he fully felt the surging vitality of the Chinese economy and the good development momentum in Jiangsu.
He said Medtronic will continue to step up its investment in Jiangsu and Changzhou in particular, increase investment layout, and work hand in hand with industry chain and ecosystem enterprises to promote high-quality development in Jiangsu.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held on Thursday for Medtronic Kanghui Changzhou Science and Technology Park in Changzhou National High tech Zone. The technology park will build an intelligent manufacturing center, research and development excellence center, innovation incubation center, and customer experience center in a bid to create a global production base for Medtronic and a global headquarters for Kanghui Medical.
