East China’s Jiangsu province is expecting 420 billion yuan in its added value of the marine industry by 2025, according to the “Marine Industry Development Action Plan of Jiangsu Province" issued recently by the provincial government.
According to the action plan, by 2025, Jiangsu will initially cultivate ten influential marine industries, 10 marine industry characteristic parks, 20 marine innovation platforms, and 30 key marine industry enterprises, with the added value of the marine industry to exceed 420 billion yuan.
By 2030, Jiangsu is expected to report an added value of over 680 billion yuan in the marine industry, achieving a leading position in the overall scale of the marine economy, and initially building an important innovation highland for the marine industry in the country, which will make the marine economy a new growth engine for the province’s high-quality development.
Jiangsu will focus on implementing five major actions, including cultivating and strengthening the marine industry chain, enhancing the innovation capacity of marine economy and technology, and promoting the green and digital development of the marine industry. The province will also accelerate the independent research and development of marine core equipment and key technologies, cultivate and strengthen emerging marine industries such as marine technology services, marine information services, and high-end shipping services, and promote significant improvement in marine innovation capabilities and accelerate development of high-end marine industries.
Jiangsu will also give full play to the comparative advantages of marine resources in the three coastal cities that include Nantong, Yancheng, and Lianyungang, introduce and cultivate a group of marine industry chains and leading enterprises, plan and construct a group of marine industry parks, and create modern marine cities with nationally-renowned marine advanced manufacturing base.
