A special rainy night rescue operation has lifted a milu deer out of danger. At about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, fishermen in Hai"an City called the police, saying that a milu deer was trapped under a photovoltaic panel for a long time. A rescue operation went underway immediately. Let’s take a close look.
“I am now in the Binhai New Zone of Hai"an. The local fishermen reported that a milu deer was trapped by a power line. I found that the two horns of the milu deer were wrapped in circular wires, and its attempt to break free made the situation more complicated”, Miao Fan, a staff reporter of Hai"an Integrated Media Center, said.
“We suspect that this photovoltaic panel is connected to the power supply. We did not blindly handle it, but reported to the superior command center, contacted the person in charge of this photovoltaic panel, and cut off the power supply”, Zhou Xiaowei, Political instructor of the fire rescue team in Binhai, Hai"an City, said.
According to the specific situation on site, the fire protection, public security, natural resources and planning bureaus wasted no time to develop emergency rescue plans.
At 9:00 p.m., the technicians from Dafeng Milu Deer Reserve arrived at the scene. They injected the anesthetic into the body of the milu deer with a Dart gun, cut the tangled wires on the two horns of the milu deer after the milu deer fell asleep, and finally injected the milu deer with resuscitation drugs.
“We speculate that this belongs to the external breeding population of the milu deer in our nature reserve. Electric wires, as long as they are, can entangle around the antlers of deer. The occurrence of such a thing is related to the living habits of the milu deer during the estrus period”, Gao Zhipeng, Technician of Dafeng Milu Deer National Nature Reserve Administration, said.
“Since this year, the Binhai New Zone has reported 8 cases of milu deer getting lost in the mudflat with a total of 12 milu deer”, Zhao Jian, Director of Binhai Branch of Hai"an Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, said.
