The third working meeting of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Ecological Environment Protection Cooperation Group was held on Tuesday afternoon in Hefei, capital city of east China’s Anhui Province. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and leader of the Collaborative Group, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Han Jun, Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, spoke at the meeting.
Chen Jining pointed out that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has clarified that the harmonious coexistence of man and nature is an important connotation of the Chinese path to modernization and a new form of human civilization, which fully demonstrates the strong will and determination of the CPC Central Committee to promote the construction of a beautiful China.
He said that the Yangtze River Delta will gain a deep understanding of the Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, actively practice the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and fulfill General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on ecological environment protection in the Yangtze River Delta so as to respond to the people"s expectations for a beautiful ecology and a beautiful home, and accelerate the construction of a beautiful Yangtze River Delta where people and nature coexist harmoniously.
Chen Jining asked the Yangtze River Delta to strengthen coordination and collaboration, strive to achieve more breakthroughs and greater results in the coordinated promotion of carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth, accelerate the regional green and low-carbon transformation, continue to make efforts in green production and lifestyle, green infrastructure construction, establishment and improvement of market mechanism, promote the adjustment, transformation and upgrading of regional industrial structure, guide people to actively participate in garbage classification, water, electricity and energy conservation and green travel so as to activate social forces for green and low-carbon development.
He demanded that Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui strengthen pollution control in a scientific, targeted and legal manner, promote ecological and environmental co protection and joint governance, promote ecological protection of the Yangtze River, strengthen cooperation between natural reserves and ecological diversity, strengthen emergency response linkage for ecological and environmental emergencies, and jointly build a regional ecological security barrier.
Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui must work together to promote the modernization of ecological and environmental governance, strengthen regional spatial control and standard management, accelerate the sharing of ecological and environmental data, continuously improve the efficiency of joint supervision, law enforcement, and governance through institutional innovation, improve the overall interests and comprehensive benefits of regional development, and work together with greater determination, higher standards, and more practical measures to improve the ecological and environmental protection cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta so as to make greater contributions to building a beautiful China.
Han Jun, Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, and Zhai Qing, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, delivered speeches at the meeting on strengthening ecological improvement and environmental protection.
The ecological and environmental departments of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui jointly released the "2023 Edition of Action Report on Climate Change Response in the Yangtze River Delta Region" and the "2022 Edition of Ecological and Environmental Quality Report of the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integration Development Demonstration Zone ". They also signed the "Memorandum of Cooperation on Collaborative Promotion of Ecological and Environmental Data Sharing in the Yangtze River Delta Region" and the "Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing an Environmental Credit Supervision Information Sharing Mechanism for Social and Ecological Environment Monitoring Institutions in the Yangtze River Delta Region".
The agricultural and rural departments in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui jointly signed the Memorandum on the Construction of Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for Introduced species Invasion in the Yangtze River Delta Region.
